A Futurist Evening at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens
Suddenly We Jumped
December 7, 2013
A fusion of Futurist ideals and aesthetics inform Suddenly We Jumped. Wright focuses on misogynist views expressed by the movements leaders, transforming the female body into a mechanized weapon to be catapulted into the air, breaking through literal— and symbolically metaphoric—glass ceilings. In doing so, she raises questions about the merciless, anti-female, weaponized industrialization of Futurist world.
