Debuting at The Caboose Hudson during Upstate Art Weekend, And now you do what they told you is an immersive installation of sound and light. Continuing my research into materials found in protests, the piece explores the use of laser pointers by protesters in resistance movements and their visual similarities to laser lights found in raves. Available to consumers as an inexpensive play toy for a cat or to shine on a presentation in a boardroom, in the hands of a protester, lasers have become objects to subvert systems of power.

A laser light show designed in collaboration with Antonio ‘Sponge’ Gonzalez will be synchronized to an original techno audio score written by experimental composer and rave DJ Dasychira (Adrian Martens). The four-minute looped soundtrack of found protest audio unravels into high-energy electronic dance music (EDM) set to 128 beats per minute to evoke the essence of both a street protest and a dance party all at once.
